The improvisation school at the cello, eighteenth century, Naples
Dopo anni dedicati alla ricerca sull'improvvisazione storica al violoncello, che ha generato articoli e edizioni critiche, ho pensato che fosse giunto il momento di un CD. Tutto il lavoro di ricerca è stato svolto per anni senza alcun finanziamento; la registrazione ha dei costi da affrontare - principalmente il tecnico, i viaggi per prove e registrazione, più le spese per la sala. Per questo motivo è stata organizzata la campagna Eppela. Eventuali fondi aggiuntivi saranno utilizzati per integrare i rimborsi alle altre musiciste e per la pubblicità al CD. Progressivamente la didattica storica dell'improvvisazione al violoncello viene ricostruita, insieme alla prassi, ed emerge come sin dall'inizio l'insegnamento sia centrato sull'improvvisazione. Oggi l'integrazione di elementi di improvvisazione storica nella didattica e nella prassi offrirebbe agli studenti di musica un percorso più creativo e agli esecutori una maggiore libertà, in un approccio più vicino allo spirito musicale dell'epoca barocca./
After years dedicated to research on historical improvisation at the cello, which have generated articles and critical editions, I thought it was time for a CD. All the research work was done for years without any funding; recording costs have to be paid for - mainly the engineer, rehearsal and recording trips, plus room expenses. For this reason, the Eppela campaign was organised. Any additional funds will be used to integrate reimbursements to the other musicians and for advertising the CD. Gradually the historical teaching of improvisation on the cello is reconstructed, together with the practice, and it emerges that from the very beginning the teaching was centered on improvisation. Today, the integration of elements of historical improvisation in teaching and practice would offer music students a more creative path and greater freedom for performers, in an approach closer to the musical spirit of the Baroque era.

La nostra storia/ Our story
Giovanna, Chiara, Mara, Carla e Elena si conoscono e suonano insieme da tanto tempo. Chiara e Giovanna hanno cominciato a suonare insieme circa venticinque anni fa, quando entrambe abitavano a Pescara. Insieme hanno un duo, che con l'aggiunta di altri musicisti diventa un gruppo: l'Ensemble Musiqua. Giovanna conosce Mara da tanti anni, hanno suonato insieme per la prima volta a Modena più di vent'anni fa, entrambe sono ricercatrici sulla prassi e la didattica dell'improvvisazione. Carla da anni collabora con l'orchestra del Festival Innsbrucker Festwochen, prima 'Academia Montis Regalis', e varie volte Carla e Giovanna hanno letto insieme le composizioni didattiche per due violoncelli della scuola napoletana. Elena suona con Giovanna da vent'anni, sia in orchestra, sia in ensemble cameristici. E' un'occasione meravigliosa poter suonare tutte insieme!!
Giovanna, Chiara, Mara, Carla and Elena have known each other and have been playing together for a long time. Chiara and Giovanna started playing together about twenty-five years ago, when they both lived in Pescara. Together they have a duo, which with the addition of other musicians becomes a group: the Ensemble Musiqua. Giovanna has known Mara for many years, they played together for the first time in Modena more than twenty years ago, both are researchers on the practice and teaching of improvisation. Carla has been collaborating for years with the orchestra of the Innsbrucker Festwochen Festival, first 'Academia Montis Regalis', and several times Carla and Giovanna have read together the didactic compositions for two cellos of the Neapolitan school. Elena has been playing with Giovanna for twenty years, both in orchestra and in chamber ensembles. It's a wonderful opportunity that we can play all together!!
